About the tour

We start the route in the mountains and climb along a scenic trail toward Big Almaty Lake (BAL). Along the way, you'll pass through coniferous forest, mountain slopes, streams, and panoramic views of the gorge.

The route is approximately 10–12 km with an elevation gain of about 500–600 m. At the top, a view of the lake and the surrounding mountain peaks awaits. After resting, we head back down the same trail.

Duration: 4–5 hours.
Suitable for people with a basic level of physical fitness.

Day-by-day programme

  1. Day 1

    08:00 — Hotel pickup
    We pick you up from your hotel and head toward Ile-Alatau National Park.

    09:00 — Hike begins
    We leave the car and start the hiking trail through the mountains. Along the way, you'll pass through coniferous forest, mountain streams, mountain slopes, and panoramic views of the gorge.

    10:30–11:00 — Big Almaty Lake (BAL)
    We reach the lake, rest, enjoy the views of the lake and surrounding mountains, and take photos.

    11:30 — Descent
    We head back down the mountain trail.

    13:00–13:30 — Hike ends
    We return to the car and head back to Almaty.

    14:00–14:30 — Return to hotel.

    Hike duration: approximately 4–5 hours.
    Distance: approximately 10–12 km.
    Elevation gain: approximately 500–600 m.
    Transfer to and from the hotel is included.
